Forgive the pun, but you are going to love Love by Cirque Du Soleil. Love is a mind-boggling and dazzling show that uses the classic music of the legendary Beatles and combines the “re-produced” and “re-imagined” music with the artistic brilliance and athletic power that can be expected in the Cirque shows. What makes the show so authentic and true to The Beatles is the fact that Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin are the music directors. Sir Martin produced almost all of the Beatles albums during their tenure and it was only fitting that he would have the majority influence on the music of the theatre show. Love was written and directed by Dominic Champagne, a true genius. The collaboration amongst Champagne and the Martin’s along with Apple Corps Ltd. and Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the wives of the late John Lennon and George Harrison, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, respectively.

The project initially began in 2000, but it wasn’t until June 2, 2006 that the show actually became a reality on the theatre stage. The grand opening of Cirque Du Soleil’s Love was on June 30th and thousands of fans including many of the original Beatles and their families. Since then, the show has become one of the most popular theatre productions in the world and one of Cirque’s most special projects. Making it so entertaining for fans is the fact that it brings the famous Beatles’ songs to life. The show depicts song characters such as Lucy in the Sky, Lady Madonna, Mr. Kite, and of, course, Sgt. Pepper. The show takes you through the story of many of The Beatles’ songs and creates a world of wonder through amazing and talented performers. Blending 130 songs into 26 pieces, the music is special and makes you realize just how genius the Beatles were and still are today.

Cirque’s Love is performed at The Mirage in Las Vegas and is shown year round. A soundtrack of the show is available and captures all the amazing music and allows you to bring part of the show home with you. There is also a documentary on how the show Love was made.
