It is hard to talk about the Green Bay Packers without mentioning quarterback Brett Favre. He has dominated the quarterback position in the league for more than a decade and went on to break an incredible amount of records during the 2007 season. Following the season, Favre announced his retirement shocking football fans around the country. He certainly made an impact in his final season etching his name in the record books one last time. The win against the New York Giants became his 149 victory making him the most winningest quarterback in NFL history. The season began with a win against the Philadelphia Eagles and rookie kicker Mason Crosby hit a 42-yarder with two seconds remaining. In game four against the Minnesota Vikings, defensive back Atari Bigby caught an interception with 1:11 on the clock sealing the win for the Packers. Favre recorded the all-time mark for touchdown passes and career attempts. After the four game winning streak to open the season, the Packers lost in a sloppy game against the Chicago Bears. The team committed five turnovers and Favre was picked off as time expired. The penalties called the game as they recorded 12 for 93 yards. He threw another interception the following week giving him the record of all-time interceptions with 278, one Favre would probably not like to have on his resume. However, he has now defeated every team in the NFL. And, in the game against the Minnesota Vikings, he became the second player to reach 60,000 passing yards. He would go on to beat Dan Marino’s record and take the first place spot later in the season. The Packers finished the regular season with a record of 13-3 and easily won the NFC North title. They also secured the first round bye in the NFC playoffs. In near blizzard conditions, the Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks earning them a place in the NFC Championship game. Their Super Bowl hopes fell short when they lost to the Super Bowl bound New York Giants in overtime. The Packers have not won a Super Bowl since 1996 and would like to add a 13th NFL Championship to their belt. With Favre in retirement, the team will have to rely on a new quarterback and a new Green Bay Packers era will begin. Be there on this journey as you see the green and yellow build it back up to the winning team they can be!
