2007 Recap:

If you had a weak heart in 2007 and also happened to be a Denver Broncos fan, this could have been a lethal combination. The AFC West Denver Broncos had games decided as time expired or in overtime six different times throughout the season, three occurring on their first three wins of the season. Kicker Jason Elam proved to be a team necessity kicking 27 field goals during the season.

In the opening game against the Buffalo Bills, Elam made the game winning kick as time expired. His success was repeated the following week against the Oakland Raiders as he sailed a 23-yarder through the yellow bars in overtime becoming only the second guy since 1970 to have two game winning kicks in the final two minutes or in overtime in the first two weeks of the season.

The Broncos third win came against the Pittsburgh Steelers in consistent fashion as Elam, once again, kicked a 49-yard field goal as time expired. Quarterback Jay Cutler had an impressive game as well, throwing 22-29 for 248 yards and three touchdowns.

The trend continued into the next week against the Green Bay Packers when Elam made a 21-yard kick to tie the game and send it to overtime. Unfortunately, Elam didn’t get an opportunity for a game winner because Packers’ wide receiver, Greg Jennings caught an 82-yard touchdown on the first play of overtime ending the game.

The Denver Broncos suffered another heartbreaking overtime loss to the Chicago Bears in week 12. It was only fitting to end the season as it started. Elam kicked a 30-yard field goal in overtime in the final game of the season to beat the Minnesota Vikings 22-19.

Head Coach Mike Shanahan has a tremendous coaching background and has made the Broncos a team to beat over the past decade. His efforts will continue into next season as he tries to lead the Denver Broncos to another Super Bowl Championship. Be there to experience the ride and buy your tickets now. Saddle up Broncos fans!
