The name Tony Romo is now synonymous with the Dallas Cowboys. He has certainly proved himself as a worthy quarterback in the past two seasons. In the 2007 season, Romo threw a 51-yard pass touchdown late in the fourth quarter to win the opening game against the Super Bowl bound New York Giants. He finished with four touchdowns, which was an impressive way to start the season. Terrell Owens is another name that people have heard, and not always because of his impressive statistics on the field. But in game two against the Miami Dolphins, Owens caught a 34-yard pass from Romo late in the fourth to cap the win. Anthony Henry can account for catching two interceptions in that same game. Henry proved himself during the following week’s game when he intercepted Bears’ Rex Grossman in the fourth quarter and drove it 28 yards for a touchdown. Romo targeted eight different receivers for 145 yards beating the Bears 34-10. The game against the Buffalo Bills was a nail biter for Cowboys ticket holders as kicker Nick Folik nailed not one, but two, 53-yard field goals to win the game. After his first attempt, it was realized that Bills’ Head Coach Dick Jauron had called a timeout nullifying the attempt. He made his second one as well calming the Cowboys fans. His precise on side kicks seconds earlier is what led the drive that allowed his winning kick. Week six marked the fifth time in NFL history that two undefeated teams had played each other. The New England Patriots stole the game as the Cowboys tallied up 98 yards on 12 penalties. The team went on to win the next seven games in a row, which has not happened since the 1993-1994 season. Owens dominated his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, recording a season-high 174 receiving yards and one touchdown. Romo helped that stat throwing for 80 percent of his passes for 32 yards and three touchdowns. When Dallas faced the Green Bay Packers in week 13, it was the first time two teams with a record of 10-1 or better played against each other since 1990. After the win against the Detroit Lions, the Cowboys had sealed the NFC East division title. They saw a loss against the Eagles in week 15 and then to the arch rival Washington Redskins in week 17. In their first game of the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys lost in front of their home fans to the future Super Bowl Champion Giants. A possible game winning miraculous touchdown pass was thrown but was picked off sealing the game for the Giants. The Cowboys’ 11 penalties for 84 yards did not help the team either. But even with the disappointing playoff loss, the Cowboys finished the regular season with a respectable 13-3 record.
