2006 Season Recap

The Bengals entered the 2006 season with a lot of uncertainties due to the fact that their franchise QB, Carson Palmer, had a season ending knee injury the previous year.  The team was able to bounce back and have a solid regular season but fell short of reaching the playoffs.  The Bengals finished second in their division with an 8-8 record.

Led by QB Carson Palmer, WRs Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh and RB Rudy Johnson, the Bengals finished with the 8th ranked offense in the league.  On the other side of the ball, the Bengals defense ranked at the bottom of the league which is a concern for the organization and fans headed into the off season.  Look for head coach, Marvin Lewis to address that issue during the off-season.

Bengals History

The Cincinnati Bengals first began play in 1921 in the American Professional Football Association (APFA).  After years of having to build and disassemble teams due to unfortunate events including World War II.  The Bengals finally were assembled again in 1967 by an ownership group headed by Paul Brown.  They played in the American Football League in 1968 and 1969 then went on to the NFL when the two leagues merged.
