2007 Recap: The Atlanta Falcons found themselves in a media mess during the 2007 season that included their quarterback, Michael Vick, incarcerated for 23 months in jail on dog fighting charges and a premature departure from Head Coach Bobby Petrino. The Atlanta Falcons’ performance on the field didn’t bring much to talk about either. After a rough 0-3 start to the season, the team found a way to rally back and win at home beating a difficult Houston Texans team, 26-16, in week four. The Falcons suffered from offensive struggles and missed opportunities that landed them with an inconsistent season and only four wins. To go with an already disappointing season, Head Coach Bobby Petrino resigned with just three games remaining in the season and signed on as the University of Arkansas head coach hours later. Emmitt Thomas was listed as the interim head coach shortly after and rallied the team to a happy end to a rough season with a big win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Falcons posted a score of 44 points which is the most since 1998 when they scored 51 points against the Carolina Panthers. The Atlanta Falcons will be led in 2008 by new head coach Mike Smith and under quarterbacks Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich. The team plans to forget about its 2007 woes associated with Michael Vick, Bobby Petrino, and their poor performance and looks to a new year and a new team. The Georgia Dome will be electric next season. Get your tickets now and be there firsthand to witness the start of a new era! |
