In 1965 the city of Atlanta were finally awarded the Falcons. The name “Falcons” was from a school teacher that submitted an entry to name the team. In 1980, the Falcons finished 12-4 only to lose to the Cowboys in the playoffs. After the 1981 season, the Atlanta Falcons would not see another playoff series until 1991.The Falcons most recent Super Bowl appearance and most successful season was in 1999 with a loss to the Denver Broncos 34-19. 2007 Preview The Atlanta Falcons upcoming season is sure to be an exciting one as new head coach Bobby Petrino looks to reshape an offense using the strong position players from the previous regime. The running game starts with veteran running back Warrick Dunn and electrifying second year running back Jerrious Norwood. Newly acquired wide receiver Joe Horn and tight end Alge Crumpler will combine to lead the passing attack. The Falcons look to regain the success they enjoyed only a few seasons prior. |
