The Syracuse Nationals had been part of the NBA since its first year in 1950, but did not come to Philly until1963. Philadelphia talent proved enough to win 3 championships two in its first two decades 1955, and 1967 then again in 1983. The 76ers added young talent and future hall of famer Charles Barkley to its rotation in 1984-85. The team improved but only to fall to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA finals.
