The past season was a tough one for the Heat. Superstar and former NBA final MVP Dwayne Wade played the majority of the season injured after being sidelined for the remainder. The only player to play in all 82 games this year was Ricky Davis. Besides all of the injuries, there was a huge mid-season trade that sent Shaquille O’Neal to the Phoenix Suns for Shawn Marion.

Dwayne Wade, in his 51 games, led the Heat in scoring with nearly 25 points and 7 assists per outing. Ricky Davis averaged almost 14 points and 4 rebounds, while shooting nearly 41% from behind the arc. Shawn Marion, in 16 games with the Heat, averaged a double-double, adding 14 points and 11 boards a night. Dorell Wright only played 44 games, while Chris Quinn and Miami local Udonis Haslem only played 60 games and 49 games, respectively.

The Heat were coached by Pat Riley and ended the season with a 15-67 record, earning last place in both the Southeast Division and the Eastern Conference. Pat Riley has stepped down as Head Coach and Assistant Coach Erik Spoelstra will be taking over. Spoelstra, at 37 years old, will be the youngest coach in the NBA. The Heat have acquired a great draft pick and are looking to have a monster turn around in the 2008-2009 season. Look for “Flash” Dwayne Wade to be aggressive and lead this heat ball club back to the playoffs, and the glory days of the 2006 World Championship.
