The Miami Heat dominated the Eastern conference and brought home their first NBA Championship Title, with the help of the "Diesel" Shaquille O’Neal and Dwayne Wade. The championship marks the seventh win for Coach Pat Riley (fifth as a head coach), and fourth title to Shaquille O'Neal. The Miami Heat play their home games at the American Airlines Arena, Miami, Florida. Premium Seats USA has the best seats for all Miami Heat home and away games.
The Miami Heat were introduced to the NBA in the 1988-89 season along with the instate rivals Orlando Magic. Unlike some of the other expansion teams the Miami Heat didn’t embarrass themselves during there early years, making the playoffs in the 1991-1992 season but only to be dismantled by Jordan. With a few good draft picks, off season moves, and trades the Heat managed to land Center Shaqille O’Neal, drafted Dwayne Wade, picked up Jason Williams, Antoine Walker, Gary Payton and the return of fan favorite Alonzo Mourning.
After defeating the Detroit Pistons, the Heat advanced to their first NBA Finals in franchise history against the Dallas Mavericks. For the Mavericks, like the Heat, this was also their first NBA Finals appearance. Dallas was looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series until Dwayne Wade made an amazing run in the fourth quarter to give the Heat their first win in the series. The Heat had similar success in game 4 of the series, and in game 5, the Heat demonstrated their ability to play under pressure when the game went into overtime. The Heat went on to win that night and on June 20, Game 6, the Heat took the NBA title in Dallas, winning the series four games to two.
