Roger Waters is best known for his work with the enormously successful and critically acclaimed band, Pink Floyd, which he is credited with founding. Although Pink Floyd began with band member Syd Barrett being the primary songwriter in their successful 1967 debut, Piper At The Gates of Dawn, the talented musician’s mental health began to deteriorate forcing him to leave the band in 1968. After Barrett’s departure, Waters took charge of the band’s creative direction and went on to produce some of the most critically acclaimed and best-selling records of all time. Their most famous and influential albums include Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. However, members of Pink Floyd began to have creative differences causing the band to part ways in 1985. Afterwards, Waters pursued a solo career and released several successful albums including The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking, Radio K.A.O.S., and Amused to Death, among others. |
