Replacement for the infamous guitarist Syd Barrett, David Gilmour really shined in the musically talented band, Pink Floyd. David Gilmour joined Pink Floyd in 1967 when Syd Barrett could no longer perform due to a “mental breakdown.” Gilmour took over and played on “A Saucerful of Secrets.” Fans discovered that Gilmour was a talented musician and that he played an airy and spacey guitar. This expanded Pink Floyd’s already psychedelic sound. During Pink Floyd David also released two solo albums called David Gilmour and About Face, which both received a decent criticism. When Pink Floyd broke up, David continued working on other projects such as a newly reconstructed Pink Floyd. He also worked with such artists as Kate Bush and Brian Ferry. |
