Bobby Vinton Info:
The son of a locally popular band leader, Bobby Vinton was seemingly destined for musical stardom. He formed his first band at age 16 and, by performing at different clubs in the Pittsburgh area, Vinton financed his own education at Duquesne University. There he studied his one and only passion: music. Before earning a degree in musical composition, the talented Vinton learned how to play, and play quite well, all the instruments of his band: the piano, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, drums and oboe. It didn’t take long before Vinton was noticed and signed to Epic Records where he achieved his first hit single, “Roses Are Red (My Love).” It was the song “Blue Velvet” however, that Bobby Vinton is most famous for; a song that David Lynch named his mysterious film, Blue Velvet after. He also scored hits with songs like “There! I’ve Said It Again, “Mr. Lonely,” “Polish Prince,” “Sealed with a Kiss,” and “Melody of Love,” among others. Bobby Vinton, named "the all-time most successful love singer of the 'Rock-Era'" by Billboard Magazine, had more hits than any other male vocalist. |
