One of Bob Weir's claim to fame is being one of the founding members of the Grateful Dead. He started off his music career when he was kicked out of school (he had dyslexia and was never diagnosed.) He then met Jerry Garcia and other hippie musicians. This was the beginning of the Dead. They had their first couple of shows at Ken Kesey’s Acid Tests. Weir was taught by Jerry Garcia and his interesting guitar tricks came from backing up such a unique band. When Jerry died in 1995, he decided to leave the Dead. During the off time of the Dead, Weir had already started up jam bands and releasing other music. His main band at this time is called Ratdog. The first album had mixed reviews. He still continues to tour with remaining members of the Dead and also continues to educate new jam bands on the old ways of the Grateful Dead.
