Anita Baker's music speaks for it's self. Going back to the days when she was singing in her churches chorus at the age of twelve, you could tell that Anita was going to be special. That is how at the age of seventeen she joined a group called Chapter 8 and played in different locations throught Detroit. Chapter 8 landed a deal shortly after with Ariola records, but the deal did not last long as the group broke up after Ariola Records was bought out by Arista. Anita found herself back in Detroit working as a receptionist at a law firm where her talents were put to the test again. In 1981 Otis Smith who was the center piece for the Chapter 8 contract between the group and Ariola records, opened up his own record lable called Beverly Glenn and did not hesitate to get Anita under his belt. It did not come easy but after some extensive talks Anita finally Joined the label.

From her first album titled "Songstress" to her last album "Rhythm of Love" Anita has caught the hearts of all of her fans. Her music is the kind of music that can relate to the every day lives of her fans. Which has the fans wanting more of Anita and her beautifull music.
