He is the only vocalist to win three Grammy’s in three different categories; jazz, R&B, and pop. He started off as psychologist and then a social worker and then realized that he wanted to try show business. He up and moved to Los Angeles and began performing in small clubs. He recorded an LP in 1960 but basically continue to be unfamiliar. In 1976 he was finally receiving some recognition. He released a two desk album called Look to the Rainbow which went to the top 50. His next album debut on the top 10 and then he got together with fame producer Nile Rodgers. During this venture he did the theme song for the hit TV shows Moonlighting and he eventually found his nest in the adult contemporary scene. He continued to make music throughout most of the 90’s and continued to stay on the adult contemporary charts. Al Jarreau will be doing some concerts this month. |
