AC/DC was formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. They quickly started making a name for themselves and now have sold more than 200 million albums throughout the world. The popular music television station VH1 ranked the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and AC/DC landed an impressive fourth on the list. MTV ranked the group seventh on their Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time list. The rock band’s first album was High Voltage and it was released in 1975. Their sophomore album, Highway to Hell, released in 1979 was an instant success and the title track is one of the band’s most recognizable songs. Shortly after the second album’s release, Back in Black debuted and became AC/DC’s best-selling album. Although the first three albums were highly popular throughout the world, it wasn’t until For Those About to Rock We Salute You that an album went to number one on the charts in the United States. After a lull in sales and a slight downfall in AC/DC’s popularity, The Razors Edge, hit stores in 1990 and sent them back into the limeight. Ballbreaker and Stiff Upper Lip were also successful albums. Most recently, Black Ice, was released in 1998 and has led AC/DC to begin their worldwide tour.
