38 Special Info:
.38 Special follows in the way of great southern bands such as, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band. Actually the lead singer of the band is Donnie Van Zant, younger brother of Ronnie Van Zant (lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd.) They started off with a country boogie sound. The first couple of albums did not really capture much success for them. In the early 1980’s the refurbished their sound and came up with a mixed sound of country and arena rock. This landed them with a sequence of hit albums. They had some hard times in the 80’s with the materialization of MTV and the hair metal bands. They tried one more time in 1989 to get another hit; they were successful. They had their biggest hit song called, Second Chances; after this hit .38 Special vanished. They attempted to make some other albums in the 90’s but success in the 90’s was difficult with the grunge era. .38 Special continues to tour and open up their great southern rock to an older and younger generation. |
