Info:
This Memorial Day week-end, NASCAR fans will gather in Charlotte, North Carolina for the Coca-Cola 600. This race is the only 600 mile event in the Sprint Cup Series, making this one of the most impressive motorsport events in the nation. The race starts in the evening, at 7 p.m. eastern time, because of North Carolina’s heat during this time of year. However, it also must end by 10 p.m. eastern time for local news affiliates, forcing drivers to start in the heat and finish in the dark.
This brings up new challengers for drivers, such as the different course conditions at night. The racetrack is lit with a system that uses parabolic reflectors. This minimizes the essentially dangerous glare that would be the in the drivers eye. Just think, there’s no way to better celebrate Memorial Day than with a NASCAR event that the whole family will enjoy.
